iTunes Player info, Help & Links

56 kbps MP3 audio stream for Broadband (T1, DSL, Cable Modem) Only! - Opens your Default MP3 Player The issues detailed on this page are only related to our MP3 play buttons that look like THIS ONE at the left (56 or 128).  These buttons open your default MP3 player, not our pop up browser player, and are only found on some of our older archive program pages that have not been converted to the browser player buttons yet.

Free POD Stream - Play with our Embeded Windows Media Player Pop Up Window The buttons that look like the one at the left will NOT have any of the problems detailed on this page because they open our pop-up browser player window.  You may have to disable pop up blockers for our site to use them.

Problem Description:

The iTunes Player does not handle .m3u playlists properly.  This is a documented  problem.

Therefore, if your iTunes player opens (as a default) when clicking on our MP3 POD Programs with a button like shown at the top of this page, the programs or songs will not play in the proper order that we have placed them in.  The files will become scattered all over the main library, and you may not be able to find them all easily or at all.

The quickest fix may be to switch your default mp3 player (for opening the .m3u file type) to Winamp or Windows media player (both recommended), both of which will play everything in the correct order.   If you do not know how to do this, see the instructions below.  (note that switching your default player for .m3u playlist files will NOT affect opening .mp3 file types on your PC. If your default MP3 player is now iTunes, MP3 files will still open in iTunes unless you change the default for the .mp3 file type also).

More info:

Our buttons (like the one shown at the top of this page) link to a plain .m3u playlist file, and each contains multiple items (.mp3 files).   Itunes randomizes all of these files, scatters them all over the main library view, and does not play them in the order that we have put them in the playlist file.  see the add-on utility at the link below.

There's no fix for that in the Itunes player, but  we know of one utility on the web that reportedly fixes this problem in the itunes player.  It requires installing an application on your PC.  We have NOT tested this and therefore cannot verify that it is safe or works.  Here's a link to the program - if this link is no longer valid, try a google search for "M3U2iTunes" :

Changing your default Player for the .m3u playlist file type:

Example For Windows XP:

1. Open Control Panel and double click "Folder Options"

(or alternately open "Windows Explorer" (local file explorer utility),  click on any folder on your PC (i.e., anywhere but on the "desktop" icon), on the menu, go to "Tools" and select "Folder Options")

2. Click on the "File Types" TAB

3. Scroll down to the "M3U" File type and click on it.  If iTunes is your default for this file type, it will show as below under "Details for 'M3U extension."  Click the CHANGE button ...

4. the "Opens With" box will display options like these (if you have mp3 capable players on your PC, they should display here).  Select the player that you wish to use and click OK (note that you can always switch back to iTunes later using the same process).

5. Close the Folder Options Window.  you do NOT need to reboot your PC, the change will take effect immediately.
